ROOTS
Simeon Qsyea is a London based film director, choreographer & founder of BirdGang Ltd.
Simeon studied Film & Video at Richmond Upon Thames, gained a scholarship at Urdang Academy and graduated from London Contemporary Dance School with a BA Hons degree.
Simeon has an expansive career in many parts of the entertainment industry and is highly respected for his innovative approach to creativity in numerous mediums including Music, Fashion, Theatre, Live Events, Television and Film.
Simeon's first film "Shadow Men" is a short made for Merce Cunningham Company, which premiered internationally.
This led to several other works "Fallen", "Afro Punk" that gained him notoriety and recognition at film festivals worldwide, which included "Shade" featuring film star Lamar Johnson and "WingSpan".
Simeon latest film "Flying Home" commissioned by the BBC has won
several awards globally and he has a successful run creating work for brands such as Red Bull, Fila, Cafe, 02, Young Vic and more.
At present Simeon is focused on narrative films with "The Failure of Seeing" and "PULL" being two of a collection of works that are in film festivals at the moment.
Simeon's draws experience from his illustrious dance training which
has allowed him to be versatile choreographer at the highest level. His work spans from Film to Theatre, Circus Shows to TV Adverts,
Hiphop to Contemporary Dance & Music videos to Live events.
His full range was shown when he became ne of the first
choreographers to create a Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical & Hip hop piece on the hit show “So You Think You Can Dance?”.
He has also worked on several key commercial campaigns such as Ariel’s 100 dance, JD Sports “Undisputed Christmas” and multi award-winning advert Quiet comfort 35; Get Closerby BOSE, Red bull, Nokia.
Simeon also judges and host dance events globally and can be seen on screen as an expert judge on TV talent show “The Next Step".

THEATRE
Theatre is the first place Simeon made a name for himself. Raised as a child actor Simeon’s love for story telling and audience interaction started here.
Theatre is where Simeon learned to write through his own voice with works being made for some of Europe biggest theatres including Bristol Old Vic, Sadlers Wells and the Other Palace to name a few.
Most recently Simeon worked on “Magnificent Melodic Machine” (O2), “Pop” (The Round house) and directed “Stripped”, a theatre show starring John Partridge.
Currently Simeon has bee re-working "White Girl, Black Girl & Everything Inbetween" a theatre and film production developed at Young Vic and South Bank Centre produced by BirdGang Ltd.
Other theatrical work includes collaborations with Lenny Henry at the National Theatre, Dynamo the magician, Cirque Bijou, Bella Kinetic, Cirque el moi, Breaking Convention, SK Shlomo, a Company of Elders amongst a range of theatres worldwide.
